Presser of buttons, turner of knobs, rocker of keyboards

So by now, I’m sure most of you dear readers have heard the musical endeavors of Sensuous Enemy. If you haven’t, then you are simply missing out and should skip reading the rest of this post and instead spend your time checking out our music that’s available on a large number of digital sources all over the internet. If you’re looking for supplemental material available live in the mid-west 3+ weekends of every month, however, then read on.

Team-Keyboards: Katja and B0B

The folks that caught our last live show back in November already got a chance to meet the two newest live members of Sensuous Enemy: Team-Keyboards, aka B0B and Katja.

Both of us are very much looking forward to getting back on stage and rocking out for the Electronic Saviors 2 release parties in Madison and Chicago next month, but while we’re not rehearsing new material and making extreme-derp faces when people bust out cameras during practice both of us have had regular DJ endeavors in the region for over a decade now focused on all things dark and electronic that we’d like to highlight in this post.

DJ :EYG:

Katja, aka DJ :EYG:, has been dropping beats since the late ’90s. After many years of regular spots in the Milwaukee and Madison areas and countless guest spots all over the country, she currently calls Chicago home with a DJing residency at Pandemic: Chicago’s premiere industrial/EBM promotions and DJ crew. Performing alongside DJs Qbot, JenaMax, Pathogen, and Kriegschrei, they can be found in Chicago every first Friday at Exit for the Pandemic Industrial Dance Night, as well as different themed “Pandemic Presents” events every second Friday.

DJ psych0tron

B0B, aka DJ psych0tron, has been spinning aggressive dark dance beats around the mid-west for 13 years now. He currently resides at Club Inferno in Madison, hosting REVERB every 3rd Saturday alongside a different regional DJ every month. He is also featured on the initial roster of the up-and-coming Bass Asylum network of independent producers and DJs based in Milwaukee, and you can expect to see him making additional DJ appearances in and around the Milwaukee and Madison areas in the near future on top of the countless guest spots already performed through out the mid-west for the past decade.

With 3 weekends of every month featuring members of Sensuous Enemy destroying dance floors in Chicago and Madison, guest DJ appearances around the mid-west, excellent studio progress on new Sensuous Enemy material, and two live Sensuous Enemy shows booked in June with hopefully more to come during the summer, we’ve been keeping busy and hope that you folks enjoy all of the creative musical outlets we have out there and continue to enjoy the ones to come.

We all know someone or a relative of someone who has fought cancer and either survived it or didn’t.  For those who beat it, after enduring chemotherapy, radiation and a host of other torturous treatments, there is always the question in the mind of the cancer survivor…will it come back again?  Cancer is a disease that affects all of us in one way or another.  It’s especially difficult to swallow when it happens to someone who has made such a positive humanitarian social impact.

Electronic/Industrial/Rock music scene promoter, DJ and Rein[Forced] frontman, Jim Semonik is the brains behind the Electronic Saviors compilations. Jim survived stage 2B colorectal cancer in 2008, and then created one of the most successful compilations with 83 musicians, presented in a lovely 8 panel digipak with 16 page booklet titled Electronic Saviors: Industrial Music To Cure Cancer.  This project raised over 20K for Charities.

This new release,  Electronic Saviors 2: Recurrence,  includes 142 artists from all over the world with exclusive tracks from Wisconsin’s very own Sensuous Enemy,  The Dark Clan, Caustic and Null Device,  along with bands Covenant, I:Scintilla, The Gothsicles, God Module, System Syn, Project Pitchfork, Rein[Forced], 16Volt, Ayria, XuberX, Ego Likness, The Azoic, Bella Morte and many more . This incredible project includes beautiful and insightful artwork from Jeff Confer and Samantha Johnson.  The boxed set will be released on May 8th and can be pre-ordered from Metropolis.

Dark Decadent Demons

During the month of October, Sensuous Enemy performed two shows in Minneapolis MN.

The experience was delightful due to the hospitality of two very special individuals by the name of Andrew Davies and Christin LeXi Davies.  The first show was performed on Friday October 9th at Ground Zero, along with Heliosphere (Andrew Davies & William Bates) and DJ Spleen.  The venue was expansive and accommodating and gave us the opportunity to play in a larger venue with a grandios stage.  The light and sound engineers for the evening were exremely professional and really took the time to talk to us and find out what kind of look and sound we wanted.  The show was very fulfilling in many ways and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know and spend time with Heliosphere.  We met some new fans, sold a bunch of CD’s and came to the conclusion that MN is a great place to perform.  We do have to thank Christin Davies, a long time promotor at Ground Zero, for taking great care of us from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, including feeding us, housing us and making sure that we had everything we needed.  She is a wonderful promotor to work with.  Next up  was Club Underground.

The second show that took place at Club Underground inMN included Thosquanta, FISHCE, OBCT and Sensuous Enemy.  Originally The Dark Clan was scheduled to headline but due to not having a drummer for the show they had to cancel.  That bumped Sensuous Enemy into the headlining spot.  The venue was small with probably the most meager stage we’ve ever played on.  FISHCE was downtempo electronic and a one woman show.  She really put on her very best but struggled to keep electricity flowing through her keyboard.  Having spoken with her before the show we knew in advance that she was worried about that happening.  We really enjoyed her style of music.  Thosquanta put on a great show.  Five members in all with male and female singers switching songs from time to time.  The female singer was a real trooper.  She was really sick and had a hard time just standing up on stage but nothing was going to keep her from giving it her all!  Next was OBCT.   Needless to say they ended up pushing almost all of the patrons out of the club into the upstairs bar due to the extremity of their sound.  Unfortunately most people that left did not return.  Sensuous Enemy ended up playing for a small intimate crowd, most of whom we had met before the show.  Missing our drummer Chris ,due to the H1N1 virus, we carried on and did our best with just the two of us.  We had difficulties with latency from what we heard in our in ears and what was coming through the speakers and the microphone needed to be turned down in the rack on stage.  Other than that, we performed like we always do and just pushed through it the best way we could.  Later we crashed at The House of Davies and spent time hangin with them.  This trip Erin Freriks, John’s sister came with us to help with equipment and merch and hang out with us for two days.  We were happy to have her along.

MN was a great place for us to play and we cannot wait to do it again next year!
