Aaron Swartz

Aaron Swartz

Aaron Swartz, age 26 was a leading activist for the campaign against SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act), cofounder of Reddit, coinventor of RSS, and a highly active digital activist for open data and freedom of information sharing! He was too young to leave this world the way he did and we have to question why does such a brilliant mind decide to leave it all behind. Maybe it was the fact that “Mr. Swartz was indicted last Thursday by the United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts, Carmen M. Ortiz, and the indictment was unsealed Tuesday. The charges could result in up to 35 years in prison and a $1 million fine” says the NYTimes Bits Blog. That is a huge sentence to have to face when you believe that the information you stole would benefit society and help people who really need it. It is a sad day today and we will remember how hard he fought for the freedoms our government is trying to take away!

Farewell Aaron Swartz. We will miss your open and intelligent mind. May you rest in peace.

This is one of the most beautiful and amazing human success stories I’ve heard all year. Jodi DiPiazza is an inspiration to all of us! Music has always been something that has been a way for humans to express feelings and emotions in order to let go of all the pain and suffering inside of each and every one of us. Music is comforting and soothing in so many ways. Whether we are musicians or just enjoy listening to music, we all enjoy music to some extent or another.

There are a number of world renowned musical composers who were suspected to have had Autism including Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss, and Bartók as well as diagnosed contemporaries musicians LadyHawke, Peter Newman, Peter Tork, Matt Savage, and Sara Lonsert.

Our very own Bob will be presenting the final REVERB event of 2012. We’re giving you folks a special treat. CHRONOTRIGGER was one of the most popular Saturday formats from the 2011 Inferno calender, and for one evening we’re bringing it back by popular demand.

For the uninitiated, here’s how it works:

CHRONOTRIGGER is a chronological restrospective of the very best in hard club music. We will journey through 20 years of anthems and club favorites, moving forward in time as the night progresses. Each hour features a different DJ pair playing tracks only from a specific time block, becoming more current with each hour until we arrive at today’s offerings at the end of the night.

Your entertainers for the evening will be DJs Whiterabbit, Siberia, Mike Carlson, Mindphaser, and psych0tron. The DJ/time slot schedules follow:

1993-1996 – Siberia vs. psych0tron
1997-2000 – Mindphaser vs. Mike Carlson
2001-2004 – Whiterabbit vs. Siberia
2005-2008 – Mindphaser vs. Whiterabbit
2009-2012 – psych0tron vs. Mike Carlson

We hope to see you there! REVERB has been a blast for all of 2012, and we’re going to end it with a bang at this event! Be sure to check out the Inferno anniversary party happening in December, and stay tuned for REVERB details for 2013.

I really enjoyed finding this “Killer Infographic” from Digtal Cowboys Blog.

Although making money has never been a primary goal for Sensuous Enemy, we do want to make sure that what we are doing follows most of these great suggestions for at least following our dream as a musician. We will continue to write, record, and perform as long as we keep our dream alive and keep striving for excellence.

Sensuous Enemy Loki and Thor

Cyber Perversion Loki and Thor

Thank you to all of our darklings who made it to the 3rd annual Cyber Perversion show at Club Inferno in Madison, Wisconsin! We had a lot of fun  with our Avengers costumes and we really enjoyed playing with our co-villains Cynergy 67 (Upper WI), V is for Villains (Chicago, IL), and AS/OF (Minneapolis,MN), along with DJ EfN (Green Bay, WI), and our very own DJ Psych0tron (Madison, WI).  Thanks to Apollo of  the Inferno for  a great venue space and to Rooster for running sound for all of us.

We were able to showcase two of our new songs “Freedom from Religion” and “Sirens of the Sea”, we just completed this past September. Both songs went over really well and we received a few kudos for them.  “Freedom from Religion” is a word speak with a melodic chorus. Since we have never done a song like this  before, the style of writing and performance really shocked some some people. “Sirens of the Sea” is definitely going to be a dance floor favorite as many started bouncing as soon as it began. All in all, it was a really fun fest and we look forward to doing it again next year!

Over the next few months, we’ll be working hard to write and record music for our next CD “Voyager”. We’re excited to get something new into your hands by Summer of 2013!

Beyonce’s has one of sexiest and most provocative voices in the industry and she is bar none, one of the most beautiful black women I’ve ever seen! She is always so passionate about whatever she decides to sing about and puts her heart and soul into the lyrics and presentation. As a woman, I particularly like this song. I also think of what it would be like to be a man, how men treat women, and how I would also be a better man if I wasn’t a woman.

Now I probably wouldn’t think these thoughts if I hadn’t been born a woman. Even my drag queen friends like going back to being a man when they are done dressing up as women. Don’t get me wrong, being a woman certainly has its advantages, but sometimes I’d like to trade places to see what the world would be like from a man’s perspective. It seems that women in this century have to play both roles in order to get ahead and be on equal footing with men.

The double play in the video and the fact that the entire thing was in black and grey and white was a really nice touch. Overall, I think this is a really good video that touched me and made me smile.  Hope you like it too.

Sensuous Enemy 2012 Promo ShootSince you last heard from us in August, we’ve been working on a few new songs this fall that we’re excited to showcase for you on October 20th. We’ll be performing at Club Inferno in Madison, Wisconsin for the 3rd Annual Cyber Perversion. The first song we previously performed at our last show titled Red Ropes, was inspired by a beautiful woman who thoroughly enjoys sensory rope play. The second song is Freedom from Religion, which we think will be a new favorite. We’ll be performing this one in a different style that imitates or mimics speak-say or rap using a female computer voice setting. Finally the third song is Sirens of the Sea we’re attempting to finalize this week.

Aside from working full time, I’m also attending Madison College trying to finish up my A.S. in Marketing. In one of my classes this semester I’m working as an Intern for the Literacy Network of Dane County, Madison. This will really help me gain experience working for a business doing Marketing with an emphasis on Social Media. Needless to say, it’s been a rough month, but we’re still able to squeeze in a couple of rehearsals each week to make sure we’re staying on top of things and to prepare for our next show on in October.

Right now we have about half the songs we need for our next CD “Voyager”, and although we wanted to get it done by the end of the year, it looks like it’s going to be more like Spring of 2013 if all goes well. So keep listening and tuning in each week as we talk about the process of creating these songs and what inspires us.

It is with much sadness today that we announce our label Radio-Active-Music will no longer be in business. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Laura Hofford Wilder, the owner, over the past two years and wish her the very best in her endeavors as she continues on with her new life in Colorado

We are thankful that we had the opportunity to have met and worked with so many wonderful and talented musicians, like The Dark Clan and XuberX, whom we’ve gotten to know much better due to being on the same label. It’s been a good run and we hope to find another label with as much vim and vigor as Radio-Active-Music!

So, until we find a new label home, you can still find us here at sensuousenemy.com and on CD Baby. We look forward to whatever the future has in store for us and we hope you’ll remember all the by-gone labels that brought you so many great artists and songs!

Here is a great article about five different ways to start writing songs. We attempt to do this by switching between programming and piano. Recently, John has been starting the songs with a few drum tracks and synth tracks and then I add lyrics and melody lines. This works well for us some of the time. But what I find really works for me as a composer/artist/singer, is to sit down at my piano and come up with a song that I can just transfer to John once the core of it is complete.

The main struggle for me is finding the right time and energy to sit down and play the piano for a couple of hours. It takes a lot of discipline, which I’ve never been very good at when it comes to playing the piano for more than 20 or 30 minutes.
So, after reading this article, we might attempt to begin our songs with a different approach and see how it goes.
